Having just graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from Santa Clara
University, I found myself at a crossroads. A world of opportunities lay in
front of me, but my choice came easily: my true love, photography. For years,
it's been nearly impossible to find me without a camera dangling from my neck.
From gorgeous landscapes to stunning portraits of cute kids, I was always there
capturing it for all time. Doing it professionally is a dream come true.
As a result of living in both Chile and Spain in addition to
my travels to Fiji and other parts of Europe, I've developed an enormous
affection for people all over the world. Trying to capture their vitality,
energy, and culture on film has been both fascinating and rewarding. Everyone's
face is so expressive, the warmth in their eyes tells a story all it's own.
A good portrait truly captures a person's personality and
emotion. Frozen in time, they're permanent memories. |
Many photographers insist on focusing on a single photography discipline such as
portraiture. Instead, I've taken a different approach. By photographing landscapes, still life, and general
architecture, my lighting and composition techniques are improving
my portraiture a great deal. My knowledge and experience isn't limited by a
narrow focus, but is instead broad enough that I often "think outside the box"
during my portrait sessions.
I feel very strongly about using the right tool for the job. Rather than
limiting my equipment to a single format, I frequently use 35mm, medium format,
and digital cameras. Commonly, I'll mix multiple formats in a single session
to achieve the results I desire. My primary camera is a Canon D60 (pro digital),
and I love using a Nikon F5 (35mm), and a Mamiya 645AFD (medium format).
Whether a job requires large-sized prints, fine detail, or digital touch-ups, my
experience with a wide range of equipment ensures that you'll love your photos.
Elizabeth MacAskill Photography began as a hobby and has since blossomed into
full-fledged business. It's no less a labor of love, though. I work out of my
humble home studio in addition to shooting on-location among the many gorgeous
settings in the San Francisco Bay Area. From traditional formal poses to
fun-loving, full-of-life candids, I do it all. I'm especially fond of
photographing children, exuberance and energy intact.
